Helga V. Toriello graduated from Cornell University in 1974 and went on to receive a Master’s degree in Genetic Counseling from Rutgers University and a Ph.D. degree in Genetics from Michigan State University. She held a position as a medical geneticist for over 30 years before transitioning to her current position as professor on Michigan State University’s College of Human Medicine faculty. During her career as medical geneticist, she was fortunate to have collaborated with Dr. Bob Gorlin on the “Hereditary Hearing Loss and its Syndromes” book as well as contributed chapters to some of his other publications. In addition, she has published over 120 papers and contributed to numerous other book chapters.
