Thomas Underhill, MD

Dr. Tom Underhill is a 1978 graduate of the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry.  He completed a general practice residency with the V.A. before establishing a solo private practice in the mountains of North Carolina.  He left the practice in 1984 to earn a master’s in Dental Diagnostic Science at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, and then taught oral and maxillofacial radiology at the University of Nebraska Dental School.  In 1990, he entered medical school at Wake Forest University.  He stayed on at Wake Forest for both a radiology residency and neuroradiology fellowship.  In 2000, he moved to Richmond to join the radiology faculty at the Medical College of Virginia.  Since 2002, he has been with Radiology Associates of Richmond, with a focus on neuro- and head-and-neck radiology.  Dr. Underhill served as Secretary-Treasurer of the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology from 1987 to 1990, and as an examiner on the American Board of OMR from 2000 to 2004.
