
Rajaram Gopalakrishnan
Dr. Raj Gopalakrishnan is a Professor and Director of the Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology at the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry. He received his dental degree from Madras Dental College, University of Madras, Chennai, India and completed specialty training in Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology at The Ohio State University. After obtaining a Ph.D. in Pathology from Ohio State, he was a post-doctoral fellow at the University of Michigan School Of Dentistry. He joined the University of Minnesota as an assistant professor in 2002. He is active in teaching at both the pre-doctoral and post-graduate levels and participates in an active surgical oral pathology practice. He is a Fellow of AAOMP and a Diplomate of the ABOMP. He has an active research lab investigating the molecular mechanisms underlying BMP regulators and bone remodeling. More recently, his research interests have focused on understanding mechanisms that regulate early invasive phenotype in head and neck cancer.
