Firoozeh Samim, DMD, MSc, FRCD(C)

Dr. Firoozeh Samim is a Canadian and American Board Certified specialist in Oral Medicine & Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology. Dr. Samim received her DMD from Shiraz University of Medical Science and completed the Oral Medicine & Oral Pathology residency program at UBC. Dr. Samim completed her Master of Science in craniofacial focusing on the oral health of the vulnerable population. She has several papers focusing on oral mucositis and oral care in cancer patients. She was actively involved in the teaching in the UBC.

Dr. Samim is a clinical assistant professor at McGill University and a staff of pathology and laboratory medicine at the Health Science Center. Collaboration between the Dr. Samim, the Newfoundland and Labrador (NL) Dental Board, the NL Dental Association, and the government had resulted in important, productive changes to legislation that introduced a specialty that has never before existed in the NL province of Canada. She was able to establish the first oral oncology clinic in this region for the cancer patients with the support from Eastern Health of NL.

She has also served a key role in the dental management of patients undergoing treatment for head and neck cancer, stem cell transplant and chemotherapy by establishing the first oral oncology clinic at the Janeway Hospital of the NL. She is currently a Clinical Assistant professor at the McGill University with the active role in teaching both undergraduate and graduates dental students.
